What is the Denver City Council thinking, to be even considering passing a proclamation essentially drafted by a loose-knit group of radicals who are planning mass protests around the Democratic National Convention?
The Re-create 68 Alliance brags on its Web site, “We will demand change by making the Democratic Convention of 1968 look like a small get together in 2008!”
I don’t think this group has been around Denver very long, because the police have a long tradition of not treating people very nicely.
Seriously though, Chicago 1968 wasn’t a great time for Democrats, and it really, really wasn’t a great time for those protesters. Most folks saw those protest and were disgusted. Why anyone would want to make that mess look like “a small get together” is beyond me. Then again thinking really hasn’t been a strong point for these folks.
But hey, I’m not a Democrat, so knock yourselves out. It’s not like you have anything to lose, like the presidency, or the majority in Congress, or anything.
