Por mi amor

I put this on my website so my girlfriend would always have this memory. Watch Venezuelan television station RCTV’s last broadcast.

What Hugo Chavez is doing to Venezuela is truly heartbreaking.

I take no joy when people die

This guy is an exception…

The getaway driver for the white supremacist group who murdered liberal Denver radio talk show host Alan Berg died in a Terre Haute, Indiana federal prison Monday.

As a person who worked, not only in Denver radio, but at KOA, I have always felt close to the Alan Berg murder. One of my ex-bosses was the board op for Berg the night he was killed. He told me stories of saying good night, then having to run live coverage of his murder the rest of the night. Other hosts had memories of the kindness of a man I would never meet, but felt I had known for years. People who knew him mourned him for years. Alan Berg’s murder was ingrained in every person who ever worked at KOA.

And why was he killed?

Because of his words. And because he was Jewish. Berg wasn’t the type of talk show host to back down from an argument. He would tell you exactly what he thought of you and your argument if he disagreed.

Lane and his cronies called lots. I’ve heard the tapes. Berg would always put them in their place, mocking them, making them look stupid, and they knew it. They couldn’t argue their case, or their cause, so they silenced the man could argue his, the only way they knew how. They gunned him down in his driveway.

A champion murdered by cowards .

I won’t celebrate Lane’s death. I never celebrate anyone’s demise, but I’ll certainly smile just a little as I think about someone getting their just desserts.

Good riddance. Today the world has become a better place.

A real “Hungry Man” dinner

When he woke up Wednesday morning, Richard Clifford didn’t know he had a date with 9½ pounds of meaty destiny.

Density is more like it.  Here’s the dimensions of the “tower of power.”

…measures a foot across and more than 5 inches high…The burger features 4½ pounds of beef, a pound of cheddar, five tomatoes, two onions, a head of lettuce and a cup-and-a-half of mayonnaise.

If anyone wants to try to eat that thing, let me know.  I wanna see it with my own eyes.

Oh the humanity!!!

A terrible day…

Beer and asphalt are leaking from two train cars after they hit a parked engine during an early morning train move.

Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway says they were in the process of moving 34 beer cars in their rail yard when four of the cars slide back, colliding with a parked engine and asphalt cars.

How could Burlington Northern be so careless.  Don’t they know the harm to the community when things like this happen?  It gets worse

Three glass-lined tank cars carrying Coors beer were damaged and beer leaked from at least one of the cars onto the ground. The beer was headed from the Coors plant in Golden to its plant in Virginia.

Think of those poor Virginians who will be stuck drinking Miller, or Bud.  Eeewww!   Here are photos of the accident (not for the faint of heart).

I am now personally taking donations of Coors that I promise will go to Virginia as soon as possible.  Of course I must taste test this beer in order to confirm its authenticity, then I promise it will get to my house Virginia.

Please help in this time of great need.  Thank you.

What were they thinking?

They obviously weren’t

There are a number of things Karen Marshall does not like about her daughter’s Conifer High School yearbook. Three pages in particular; pages 13, 33 and 71.

On page 13, they have students smoking pot and using drug paraphernalia…

My first thought was “where was the advisor?” But then I read further…

Monday, the yearbook advisor, Amy McTague released a statement apologizing to the students, staff and community for the controversial images and quotes.

She says she discussed the photos at length with her editor and they agreed that some of the elements are completely inappropriate. She goes on to say “these issues detract from the many wonderful things that are included in the book.”

So she discussed putting pot smoking photos in the yearbook with her editor, that she knew would “detract” from the yearbook….and yet the pics still made it in.

Ya know, I’m an advisor for a high school newspaper.  I believe in giving the kids as many choices about the content of their newspaper as possible, but I have the final say.  No way I put anything illegal, or harmful to students in my paper.  Why?  First, it’s my job on the line, but slightly more important is the fact that these kids don’t understand the full ramifications of their actions.  Just ask them..

“I don’t think it’s that big of a deal,” said freshman Drew Daughtry. “There are drugs wherever you go. They were just trying to show what really happens with students. It’s part of their life.”

That maybe so, but by publishing these photos in the yearbook, they’ve made the lives of the kids pictured that much more difficult.  Say they want to run for office, or raise kids, or get a job.  They will have some difficult questions to answer.

Have fun with that.

But I’m sympathetic to the kids, I’m no saint, especially on this issue, but I know there are no published photos of me sucking down a bong.  These kids can’t say that, because some advisor didn’t think and didn’t do her job.

Luckily, the only thing ruined is a yearbook…so far.  I really hope it stays that way.

Is this opposite day or something?

This can’t be right…

Former President Jimmy Carter said Monday his remarks were “careless or misinterpreted” when he said the Bush administration has been the “worst in history” for its impact around the world.

I hope President Carter is o.k., it’s not like him to sound rational, particularly about President Bush.  Of course, he probably understands, that when he starts talking about the “worst presidents in history”, his name seems to always end up on the top of the list.

How will they blame Israel for this?

I wonder….

Lebanese troops pounded a Palestinian refugee camp with artillery and tank fire for a second day Monday, raising huge palls of smoke as they battled a militant group suspected of ties to al-Qaida in the worst eruption of violence since the end of the 1975-90 civil war.

Ooh!  I know!  If it wasn’t for Israel, then we’d have had World Peace by now.  It’s just that the world cabal controlled by the “you know who“, you know, the ones who control President Bush and the United States, who want war so they can continue to profit off all the Palestinian baby blood they sell to Israeli bakeries for cakes and pies.  It’s their fault.

That’s the ticket!!!!!

A medical miracle

Shannon Malloy was critically injured Jan. 25 when a car crash slammed her into the dashboard.

Her skull separated from her spine, although her skin, spinal cord and other internal organs remained intact.

The rare condition is known as clinically as internal decapitation, and it left her with no control over her head.

My first question is how did she not die immediately?

(Dr. Gary) Ghiselli said a will to survive kept Malloy, 30, alive long enough for surgeons to insert screws in her head and neck and attach a halo to minimize movement — no easy task.

“My skull slipped off my neck about five times,” Malloy said. “Every time they tried to screw this to my head, I would slip.”

Doctors eventually stabilized her head and strengthened her neck. The halo has since been removed.

“It’s a miracle that she was able to survive from the actual accident,” Ghiselli said. “It’s a miracle that she’s made the progress that she’s made.”

An amazing story.  I am now off to make sure that Dr. Ghiselli’s phone numbers are stored in my cell phone.

Why they call it “Boston Pops”

it packs a lot of punch….

Something else popped at the Boston Pops opening night concert – a fight broke out in the audience at Symphony Hall.

Television video of the fight Wednesday night showed two men struggling in the balcony – one with his shirt pulled off – as several people stood around them and the orchestra performed a medley from the movie “Gigi.”

How much longer will we ignore the brutal toll this “music” takes on our society.  It’s obvious that classical music causes violence and must be stopped!  I demand a boycott of all products that use this thuggish genre to sell their wares.

Think of the children!
