Keeping “the peace” a two way street

It seems to me, that if you’re gonna try to “keep the peace” somewhere, you ought to make sure of two things.  The first is that you need to make sure both parties are keeping the peace, instead of focusing on one and totally ignoring the other.  The second is that you really, really need to not take sides, because that inserts you into the conflict instead of trying to stop it.

France needs to take this advice.
